Two Speeds

myfitnesspal
I seem to have come programmed with two speeds when it comes to diet and fitness.

Full-out-distance-runner-health-nut.

Or sugar-addicted-carb-noshing sloth.

Yep.

Those would be the two speeds I've identified.

And then there are the two sides of my personality.

Super-check-list-uber-motivated-over-achiever.

And poet-artist-laid-back gourmand.

I personally think this is what happens when you have an artisan raised by a rocket scientist and an accountant.

Not that I'm blaming my parents.

Much.

But the thing is, I seem to run on one of those two speeds. And I'm working at running more in the middle. Which I believe, according to my research, is called Balance.

And what I've learned is that, artist or not, I am motivated by numbers and charts.

Which makes me extremely delighted that my friend GP introduced me to this little gem:

MyFitnessPal.com.

No, I'm not being compensated for this plug. At all.

MyFitnessPal is free. And you can have it on your phone and your laptop. Love.

As a gal who has done the online Weight Watchers gig and has trafficked heavily in Body for Life and has gained baby weight and lost baby weight and has run insane distances and still hears the clarion call of a Snickers Bar (or two...or seven), I'm really loving this site.

'Cuz let's face it; at the end of the day, it is about the calories you burn and the calories you consume.

And how much you like charts. And numbers. Which I do.

Which sort of offends my artisan side.

But my over achiever side ignores my artisan side.

And it might just bring you to a place of Balance. Which is where I'm trying to go.
